Day 01: Uros - Amantani.

This excursion begins at 7:30am with a transfer from your hotel to the port. Then by motor boat (35 feet long with a covered section in case of rain or cold weather) we visit the Uros floating Islands. Stepping on them feels very much like a water bed (but it is quite safe), We see the houses, the islands and  a ride  on traditional reed boats can be arranged .We visit two of the 30 islands before continuing on to Amantani Island. After a 3 hour journey we get to Amantani.

You will probably see local families running down the hill to welcome you. At the port our group breaks into smaller groups for home stays.  A typical lunch is served by your designated family.

An optional football match, then a hike to the high point of the island to watch the sunset. At dinner your designated family will dress you up in traditional local costumes and take you to the community hall for a small celebration, it is a lot of fun! Feel the energy of this living culture. (Night accommodation with a local family on the island).

Day 02: Amantani - Taquile - Puno.

Breakfast and departure to Taquile Island. After an hour's navigation we get to this unique place. There, a long gradually ascending path will take us to the village (50 min. hike approx) to visit the communal cooperative. Lunch at one of the local restaurants. The views are magnificent. Then we descend 500 steps down to the port. At 1 pm approx. return to Puno (a 3 hour return journey). On arrival at Puno we transfer you to your hotel, approximately at 4pm. (End of the adventure.) Night Bus to Cusco before 20:00Hrs.

This trip will give you the chance to experience the magnificent Lake Titicaca. Visiting the three different islands included in this trip will give you a wide perspective of life in Lake Titicaca.

This is for sure one of the best examples of  rural communitarian tourism in Peru.

Amantani Island, place full of living culture. There you see and experience up close the real rural life of Peru and spend time with an authentic local family. You won’t just be an observer. This unique island holds temples at its tops with a hidden ancient message kept by the local “Shamans”.

Taquile Island, a place where the time has stopped. There you will see an indigenous community that conserves original Inca social traditions and organizations. The isolation has kept them almost untouched by the modern world.

The Uros Floating Islands, where you will observe artificial reed platforms inhabited by this ancient ethnic group. It is surely one of the most original ways of life on earth. Some people think them artificial and acting for tourists. But in fact they are authentic, their culture is authentic, and the history of why they live amongst the reeds is fascinating.
