This trekking is famous in cusco and is a great alternative to the Inca Trail. It was Recently Named among the 25 best Treks in the World, by National Geographic Adventure Travel Magazine. Throughout the first two days we will have amazing views of Apu Salkantay(6.271m/20569ft), Pumasillo and Humantay Mountain. As you pass through the high puna landscape. On the third day you descend to the warm cloud forest where you will have good opportunities for bird watching, to see coffee, bananas and papaya plantations and take a bathe in the Santa Teresa River. The fourth day we will finally visit with our expert guide.The impressive lost city of the Incas Machupicchu. One of the 7 wonders of the world.

Day 1 : CUSCO - Mollepata - Soraypampa

We’ll begin at  Cusco at 5.00am. We’ll go by bus to MOLLEPATA (this the beginning of the trek) it takes around 3 hours, when we get here we have our  breakfast and arrange our horses, afterwards we’ll walk up for around 3 more hours to CRUZ PATA for lunch, after lunch we’ll have one hour to take a rest then we start walking to SORAYPAMPA 3850m.  In this part of the trail, we are going to see in front of us the first (HUMANTAY) snow capped mountain.  We’ll get to our first campsite at 5:30 pm where our porters will be waiting with some hot tea, and later they’ll make our dinner (the first campsite is the coldest).

Day 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu - Cusco

We’ll begin with an early walk (approximately 1.30 hours uphill from Aquas Calientes) or bus for 25 minutes to the Citadel of Machupicchu, with a guided tour for 3 hours and plenty of free time for further exploring, photos and optional climb of the mountain Huayna Picchu, see the Temple of the Moon, or the Gate of the Sun. Generally, around 3-4pm people walk down the steps back to Aguas Calientes for your lunch and finally we take our return train to Ollantaytambo with bus connection arriving to Cusco city around 10:30 pm. (may vary during season).

Day 2 : Soraypampa - Chaullay

After having a good breakfast we’ll  leave at 6:30am. We have to climb up for four hours to the first pass of SALKANTAY mountain, which is over 4540m. We’ll stop on the summit of this mountain for around 15 minutes for you to take photographs, from the summit we’ll have great views of range of the mountains and we’ll find some heaps of stones (Apachetas) around this pass. After this, we’ll descend for 4 hours through a pleasant trail to Chaullay, which is lower than first campsite at 2900m where we have our dinner.

Day 3: Chaullay – La Playa (Sawayacu) - Santa Teresa

We’ll leave from Chaullay early after our breakfast at 7.00 am we will pass through COLLCAPAMPA. In this part of the trek we will walk on a narrow trail on the mountainside, passing some species of orchids, different kinds of plants, some cornfields and fruit fields. We’ll have the opportunity to see the most beautiful waterfall on the trail after walking for 5 hours. Finally we will get to LA PLAYA place, and take a small truck to go SANTA TERESA, a town which is over 1645m, it will be around 45 minutes by truck .We will get to SANTA TERESA around 3:00 pm and set up our tents. We can go to the medicinal hot springs which is only 45 minutes from Santa Teresa town.

Day 4: Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes

We’ll get up at 7.00 in the morning and after breakfast we start walking for around 2 hours to get the Urubamba river where we’ll cross the river by a cable. After this spectacular experience we keep going for 2 more hours to a hydroelectric power station which is also a small village.  We’ll have our lunch here and after that we walk the last part along  the railway for around 3 hours, to Aguas Calientes town, where we spend the night in a hostel.
